Sam Decker
General Manager
A Vineyard native, Sam studied creative writing at Oberlin College before moving to San Miguel de Allende to open his first restaurant, Oko, in 2009. While there, he became involved in the region’s burgeoning winemaking scene. He supplemented this hands-on education through U.C. Davis’ Winemaking Certificate Program and the Court of Master Sommeliers.
In 2014, Sam began his tenure as Atria’s wine director, building a program that focused on education and championing a new generation of small producers. In 2018, Sam co-founded Wine + Peace, an online marketplace for responsibly made wine. As the company’s editor-in-chief, Sam fostered a community of leading voices on the subject of American wine, while his own writing appeared in magazines such as Bon Appetit and Edible Vineyard.
2024 marks his second season as Atria’s general manager.
